DC VegFest to Celebrate the Many Joys & Flavors of Plant-Based Eating!
Free family- and dog-friendly vegan festival on Sat., Sept. 24 at beautiful Yards Park

Washington, DC — September 7, 2016 — Whether you’re looking to improve your health, protect animals, save the planet, or you just want to eat some really good food, the nation’s capital is the place to be on Sat., Sept. 24, 11am-6pm, for the annual DC VegFest, presented by Compassion Over Killing.

More than 20,000 Washingtonians and visitors will gather at Yards Park (adjacent to Nationals Stadium) for this free outdoor festival featuring lots of food, tons of fun, and many new friends. There will also be dynamic speakers, cooking demos, a kids’ zone with a moonbounce, a barking lot for dogs, a beer garden, live music, and so much more!

This year’s DC VegFest speakers include:
– Leilani Münter
, professional race car driver and environmental activist
– Marco Antonio Regil, actor and television host
– Elizabeth Kucinich, policy consultant at the Plant-Based Foods Association
– Torre Washington, award-winning vegan bodybuilder
– Jonathan Balcombe, animal behavior expert, and author of What a Fish Knows

“The DC VegFest is a fun, free event to explore how we can all make kinder, greener, and healthier choices,” says Erica Meier, Executive Director of Compassion Over Killing. “Everyone is invited to join us — bring your kids, bring your dogs, and definitely bring vegan and pre-vegan friends along to enjoy this food-filled, action-packed day!”

Delicious plant-based cuisine will be dished out by more than 40 restaurant and food vendors, many giving out free samples to tempt your tastebuds. Vendors include HipCityVeg, Shouk, 3 Twisted Vegans, Roots Market, Treeline Cheese, Vegan Treats, Busboys & Poets, and Tofurky.

More than 70 nonprofit and commercial exhibitors will also be setting up shop for the day: A Well-Fed World, VegNews magazine, Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps, Barnard Medical Center, Herbivore Clothing, the Washington Humane Society, and many more.

The event is free and open to everyone. The first 1,000 attendees will receive a free 2016 commemorative DC VegFest tote bag fully-loaded with swag from our sponsors!
