Sunday, August 11, 2019.
The event starts at 11:00am and ends at 5:30pm.
Stay tuned to our Schedule page for the full day's schedule! We’ll also have free programs available at the Info Booth and schedules posted throughout the event.
Note: We will be giving out free bags at the Info Booth, starting at 11:00am, to the first 1,000 people in line. Bags will not be given out before 11:00am.
If you don’t want to wait in line for a bag, you’re welcome to walk right into the festival at 11AM – it’s a free event and there is no need to check in at the Info Booth. Please note that this year you will have to go through security to get into the event.
By bringing the DC VegFest to the Nationals Park, all visitors will be required to pass through a metal detector and be screened by security personnel. This is for everyone’s safety.
NOTE: There are things you can NOT bring into the park:
- Backpacks of any kind. Purses and other bags are allowed.
- Knives, or other items that may be perceived as weapons.
- Open water and food. You can bring unopened water and prepackaged food only.
- Costumes or face mask. Only DC VegFest sanctioned costumes and mascots will be allowed.
DC VegFest is taking place at Nationals Park which is located at 1500 South Capitol St SE Washington, DC 20003. Looking for directions and public transit information? Check out our Find Us page.
Cars: DC VegFest is a three-minute drive from I-395/Southeast Freeway. Nationals Park Garage C (entrance on 1st St SE) will be available to the public starting at 10:30 on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to limited parking availability, we recommend that people take public transit when possible.
Bikes: The Nationals Park has plentiful bike racks if you are riding your own bike. Capital Bikeshare is also conveniently located at the corner of First Street and N Street SE and the corner of M Street and New Jersey Ave. SE.
Yup! Dogs who are happy and calm around others are welcome, though they must be kept on a leash at all times. Dogs are the only non-human animals permitted at the DC VegFest. At the event, you’ll find a designated Barking Lot offering water, treats, and clean-up bags.
Absolutely! We’ll have a special kids’ area tent featuring games, crafts, and more. Stay tuned for the schedule and plan to bring along the whole family!
DC VegFest is an outdoor event - rain or shine! The event will continue as planned unless weather poses a threat to the safety of our guests.
Starting at 11am, we are giving away 1,000 DC VegFest commemorative tote bags loaded with samples and offers from our sponsors and exhibitors — we don’t expect these bags to last long, so be sure to get there on time for your chance to take one home! The bags will be given away at the Info Booth, and we’ll be forming a line along the sidewalk for anyone who shows up early. You can also reserve a loaded tote bag - see more information in the next question.
Keep in mind we will also be selling (empty) DC VegFest commemorative tote bags for $5 after we have given away the 1,000 goodie bags!
Yes! Every year we open up reservations for DC VegFest commemorative tote bags, which are loaded with goodies from our sponsors! This is a great way to guarantee a tote bag (without needing to be one of the first 1,000 people in line) as well as support our festival at the same time!
Stay tuned to our News page for updates, as we typically post an announcement on tote bag reservations a month or so prior to the event.
For pick up at the festival, simply stop by the Info Booth anytime from 11am - 6pm. Your name will be on our supporters list!
